I love local businesses. They are the heart and soul of every community. My question is why do people flock to larger towns to purchase clothes, groceries, or eat out? I know that it is necessary at times, but not always. This hits home for me since my livelihood is based on people shopping at our store, purchasing our wine, or even shopping on our website. Yes, shopping local may cost a little more on certain items verses big box retailers. These retailers are able to buy things in such large quantity that it drives the cost down. Most of the time the quality is sacrificed, but people only look at the sticker price. However, when you shop local you are putting valuable tax dollars back in your community and supporting people that help make our towns a better place.
Here is a fun perspective, when you are doing a local fundraiser, who do you contact to give you money or a donation? Local businesses. We on average get hit up multiple times per week and sometimes per day. We do as much as we can to support each organization, especially those who support us!
I don’t want this to come across negatively. This blog is bring awareness that local businesses are the back bones of every community. They bring new faces into town by offering value! Have you ever moved and the first thing you do is look to see the amenities in the city? Or don’t we all get super excited when a new store or restaurant comes into town? Without continued support, these establishments wouldn’t survive and the value would be lost!
When you shop small, you aren’t supporting a CEO buying a third holiday home. You’re helping a little girl get dance lessons , a little boy get a team jersey, and a mom and dad put food on the table. Thank you for shopping local.
From the bottoms of our heart, thank you. Thank you for supporting every segment of our business and referring your friends to do the same. When we started our business, we never dreamed that we would get this amount of local support in Canon, GA.
