Everywhere you turn around there is another opinion of what’s going on. You have those who think this has gone over board and those who are posting a million times on social media about those not taking this seriously. You also have social media friends that have completely gone off the deep end and you can tell they are bored out of their minds. Here in our family business we all know this is very serious, but we all have different opinions on the severity. Let me break this down for you.
Let’s start with Queen Bee Karen. Karen is my mom and the glue that holds our business together. She also is considered high risk due to her asthma. So, when it comes to Covid-19 we are always keeping her on the forefront of safety. She is very anxious by nature, but this has made her anxiety morph to epic proportions. This is a lot due to our leader and my dad, Monroe. If you know my dad you know that he is very passionate. One day we are fine and the next he is worried. We don’t know a timeline or where this is going, so my dad treats his anxiety very differently. It changes daily, from ok to brink of disaster. Not that I am trying to talk smack, I am just being real with ya’ll. This is very scary for small business. This is an uncertain time. We don’t know what to do and we all deal with stress very differently.
Andrew is probably the most laid back and non verbal about it. He knows the severity and is very anxious, but always seems to not fly off the handle. He’s been working on getting label designs completed which are all done by hand and 100% works of art. He doesn’t just grab clip art, he draws our labels. We talk daily and he is the worker that goes in when he needs to help and doesn’t complain all the time. You get that? All the time! Ha!
I am home in Washington, GA working on social media, blogging, optimization on our website and email marketing. I am also trying to potty train my 2.5 year old daughter Eden. It’s going well, but we have our moments. I have learned I do NOT want to be a stay at home mom. Geez, how do they do it? I need interaction. I don’t deal with stress well, and this entire Covid-19 deal is a lot to take in. I am nervous because I have a small child and the thought of her getting sick and me not being able to be with her terrifies me. I am scared for our business. We have worked so hard to get to where we were and now our plans are at a halt. Like I said in other blogs, we have all sacrificed and I knew this year was our break out year and now I am worried. HUGE business deals are at a standstill until this is over. Deep down, I know that our business will bounce back when this is over and I will have a better appreciation of my day to day life.
With all of that being said, we are working through the struggles because that’s what we do. We have made it almost 7 years in business not because we sit on the sidelines, because we work. Our family dynamic is strong and together we make one hell of a team.
